As evening drew near, the rain stopped and as I looked at the petunias, I saw how the large blossoms held the drops of rain. So, I took some close up shots with the iPhone. I like how the monochrome finish emphasizes the water droplets. #photoaday
It was a strange day for us, weatherwise in Frankenmuth. Like many areas in the U.S., we have been experiencing drout like conditions. This morning we had rain, in fact it started early this morning as thunderstorm, at about 4:00 am, if I remember correctly. By 10:00am it had stopped and the sun came out. I stopped on my way back from running some errands and decided to take some pictures of the fountain in the welcome center. The fountain features a young boy splashing in the water, blowing bubbles while the fountain rains down on him. The sculptor captured a lot of detail, right down to the boy’s shoes sitting on the side of the fountain. He must have taken them off so they wouldn’t get wet. I like the detail of the shoes with the refreshing water in the background. The rain came once again, later in the day, plenty of rain. We do need a good soaking.
I love a good thunderstorm, especially when I’m going to sleep. The sound of the rain pounding against the house mixed with the flashes of lightning and the thunder claps add drama to an otherwise quiet evening. Once the storm dies down, the gentle rain provides a very relaxing back drop for a nice, relaxing, deep sleep.
