It was a crisp clear sunny morning. The sun providing a back light to the beautiful ice clad branches of the trees against a clear blue sky. It’s Christmas Eve morning. Looks like we will indeed have a white Christmas.
This is a close up of one of the candle light bulbs in our kitchen chandelier. I didn’t have a lot of time today for photos, so I was scrambling around the house looking for my shot. The light was coming in through our kitchen window providing a filtered back light, the grass provided a nice gradient background. I like the effect the back lighting has on the glass lamp shade and the bulb, creating silhouette with the fine filament.
I have passed the halfway mark, actually passed it a couple of days ago without taking notice. I have learned a lot with this photo a day challenge. One of my goals was to take more pictures, because that is really the way to improve, practice, practice, practice. Something else has happened along the way that I had not anticipated. I really did not expect to have followers, and that is a pleasant surprise for me. This blog has become a conversation piece when I see my friends. I really appreciate the encouragement and feedback I have received, and the “Likes” really are appreciated. I feel like I am part of a growing community of fellow WordPress bloggers, a community that I never knew existed. Thank you everyone for taking the time to view this blog, leave a comment, and thanks for pressing the “Like” button. 🙂
Spring is here, the grass is green, tulips are in full bloom, and the trees have buds on them. This is another shot of the tree from Day 47, when I blogged about the gray days of winter. My daughter Amanda came up with the idea to shoot this same tree each season, so she could have the series on her wall. The difference between today’s conditions and those of Day 47 were huge. First, instead of a “gray” day, we had a beautiful sun filled day today. The temperature was about 20 degrees warmer, and this shot has the golden glow of the “golden hour”. I shot this photo just before the sun dropped below the horizon. There are still no leaves on the tree, but if you look closely, you will be able to see some buds on the ends of the branches. I am looking forward to the summer shot, when the tree will be full of leaves.
Yesterday I was bemoaning the fact that it was gray and dull and the sun didn’t shine, oh what a whiner I was. Well today was gorgeous! The sun was out early and what a beautiful blue sky we had, with nice puffy white clouds. I quickly grabbed the Nikon and set it up for another HDR shot. I shot this one handheld. I was reading Dimitrii’s blog on how to shoot HDR in 3 easy steps recently and he mentioned that a sky with clouds is desirable for HDR photos. Well today the sky was cooperative. Thank you Lord for providing us with such a beautiful day today, making the everyday scenery sparkle with the light you shine down on us all.
